How to change your mindset by changing your environment?

My mindset changed as a result of my changing environment. While working in the housing and utilities administration, I got a job at a bank and started surrounding myself with people who were wealthier and had a broader worldview than those around me before. My new environment showed me how my life could change and what I could strive for and dream about.

After working for four years in the bank, I started organizing educational events and began to surround myself with people who were business leaders and market experts. Communicating with these people opened up new horizons for me. I started to think bigger, took on more responsibility, and eventually started my own business.

Frequent trips to educational events across Russia and communication with industry leaders not only in my region but throughout the country inspired me to engage in larger projects and expand beyond the country’s borders. As a result, our business has grown to cover 8 countries and 40 cities worldwide.

While studying at the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO in 2016, I learned that the Russian stock market was worth $600 billion, while Google was worth $800 billion. Upon hearing this, I realized that my growth ceiling was limited and decided to go to Silicon Valley to surround myself with American investors, engineers, talented employees, and entrepreneurs. This new environment allowed me to understand how I could scale my business.

Today, my company has indeed become an international organization. Last week, we welcomed the first group of 55 English-speaking students from the Vienna University of Economics and Business MBA program. Among them were citizens of several countries, including Austria, Canada, Australia, Switzerland, Great Britain, Germany, Peru, and Spain.

At one of the meetings in Plug&Play, we had the opportunity to meet Said Amidi, the founder of the accelerator. He was one of the pioneers who managed to earn $1.5 billion and get options from large companies, giving Peter Thiel and other talented entrepreneurs the opportunity to work in his carpet store. These entrepreneurs went on to launch dozens of startups that changed the world, including Tesla, YouTube, Sequoia Capital, and many others.

Our clients come to us to change their mindset through their environment, as it is the only way to view their problems from the perspective of people building global businesses. Companies based in Silicon Valley are changing the global business context, impacting billions of people around the world.
